Vehicles are designed for marketing a very large number of people. If you feel the need to make some changes, it's only natural. Humans are individuals, after all, with specific needs.
If you feel the need to change your car's paint because of your preference, go ahead and change it. If you need to add a step-up to your truck because of your shorter legs, do it. It's a matter of safety. Again, there's no need to conform for a vehicle mass-produced for everyone.

The mechanism works because of the denser capacity of cooler air. There is more oxygen in cooler air. Because of this, more of this element can be combusted, which means better torque, power, responsiveness, and fuel efficiency. And since it's more efficient, the noise that the engine makes is less too.
Custom exhaust
A custom exhaust is a horsepower multiplier. It makes the exhaust systems less restrictive. Less restriction allows the engine to "exhale" a little easier, increasing fuel efficiency. A custom exhaust will burn less gas but produce more power.
LED light bars
If you want to show off your custom truck, you're in luck. People are naturally drawn to lights. Also, if you're the type to prioritize safety, custom lights are the way to go, especially if you're a frequent off-roader.
