Extended Car Warranty & Vehicle Protection in Winnipeg
Modern vehicles are packed with technology, and repairs cost more every year. One major breakdown can mean thousands of dollars you didn’t plan for. Ride Time offers extended warranties and protection products from iA Dealer Services, part of iA Financial Group, one of Canada’s largest insurance and financial services companies. We’ll explain what each one covers, what it doesn’t, and what it costs, so you can decide what makes sense for you. No pressure.

Extended warranties
An extended warranty helps pay for covered mechanical repairs after the manufacturer’s warranty runs out. We offer several coverage levels, from essential protection for the parts that cost the most to fix, up to comprehensive coverage.
- Priced for your vehicle: the cost depends on your specific vehicle, its age and its kilometres, so we quote every vehicle individually.
- Bought your vehicle somewhere else? You don’t need to buy from Ride Time to get a warranty. Ask us about coverage for the vehicle you already own.
- Clear answers in writing: before you buy, we’ll show you exactly what’s covered and what isn’t.
Your warranty, your service history and Oil-4-Life
The most common reason a warranty claim gets complicated is missing maintenance records. If something breaks, the warranty company may ask for proof the vehicle was looked after.
That’s where Oil-4-Life comes in. Ride Time covers your oil, lube and filter for as long as you own the vehicle, as long as you keep up your regularly scheduled maintenance with us. Every visit adds to your service history in our system, and our technicians do a multipoint inspection each time, so a problem can be caught early, while it may still be covered.
How a claim works at Ride Time
- Bring your vehicle to our service centre and we diagnose the problem.
- We send the details to the warranty company for approval.
- Once the repair is approved, we order the parts and book the repair.
We handle the paperwork with the warranty company, so you’re not stuck in the middle.
Other ways to protect your purchase
- GAP protection: if your vehicle is written off or stolen, insurance pays what it’s worth, which can be less than what you still owe on the loan. GAP helps cover that difference.
- Replacement protection (CAP): helps you replace your vehicle after an eligible total loss.
- Tire and rim protection: coverage for eligible tire and wheel damage. Winnipeg potholes, we’re looking at you.
- Incident Pro: additional protection for certain vehicle-related incidents.
The most popular combination our customers choose is an extended warranty plus GAP.
WalkAway: protection when life doesn’t go to plan
Picture losing your job unexpectedly. First the income stops. Then the car payments get hard to make. If the vehicle is repossessed, your credit takes a hit too, right when you need it to get back on your feet. That’s a triple whammy.
WalkAway is designed to protect you against certain unexpected life events, including involuntary job loss, illness and disability, and qualifying mental health conditions under the newer contract. It protects you, not just the vehicle. WalkAway is payment protection rather than a warranty, and eligibility, waiting periods and exclusions apply, so we’ll walk you through the terms before you decide.
Changed your mind?
Our protection products include a 30-day cancellation period for a full refund. After that, refunds are generally prorated. The exact terms are set by each product’s contract, and we’ll give you those details in writing.
